نویسندگان
چکیده
We report on a possible correlation between the mass ratio and period ratio of pairs of adjacent planets in extra-solar planetary systems. Monte-Carlo simulations show that the effect is significant to level of 0.7%, as long as we exclude two pairs of planets whose periods are at the 1:2 resonance. Only the next few multiple systems can tell if the correlation is real. 1. The correlation between the mass ratio and the period ratio As of March 2003, 101 extra-solar giant planets have been discovered, with minimum masses between 0.12 and 15 Jupiter masses and orbital periods between 2.986 and 5360 days 3. The periods and the masses of the planets are apparently correlated. The emerging population has shown indications for a correlation that corresponds to a paucity of massive planets with short orbital periods. Furthermore, this correlation does not appear in the population of planets that have been found in stellar binary systems (Zucker & Mazeh 2002). The known extra-solar planets include a special subgroup of 22 planets found in 10 multiple systems (Fischer et al. 2003), two of which consist of 3 planets (υ And and 55 Cnc).

We review three examples of quasi exactly solvable (QES) Hamitonians which possess multiple algebraisations. This includes the most prominent example, the Lamé equation, as well as recently studied many-body Hamiltonians with Weierstrass interaction potential and finally, a 2× 2 coupled channel Hamiltonian.

The extrasolar system OGLE-2006-BLG-109L is the first multiple-planet system to be discovered by gravitational microlensing (Gaudi et al. 2008); the two large planets that have been detected have mass ratios, semimajor axis ratios, and equilibrium temperatures that are similar to those of Jupiter and Saturn; the mass of the host star is only 0.5M⊙, and the system is more compact than our own So...

The origin of the terrestrial atmosphere is one of the most puzzling enigmas in the planetary sciences. It is suggested here that two sources contributed to its formation, fractionated nebular gases and accreted cometary volatiles. During terrestrial growth, a transient gas envelope was fractionated from nebular composition. This transient atmosphere was mixed with cometary material. The fracti...

The orbital parameters of a new 2-planetary system HD 169830 have been announced during the XIX-th IAP Colloquium " Extrasolar Planets: Today & Tomorrow " , (Paris, June 30-July 4, 2003) by the Geneva Extrasolar Planet Search Team. We study the global dynamics of this system in the framework of the N-body problem. The preliminary analysis of its orbital stability presented in this paper is perf...
